The Rockaway Center for Community Development is pleased to announced its plans for the 2012 Vacation Day Camp Program. The Rockaway Center Vacation Day Camp has been developed in response to the needs of working parents/guardians and their children. Campers can spend their time off from school this summer in a safe and engaging atmosphere.
“It is our pleasure to provide our community with an exciting vacation summer day camp for school age children of our parents/guardians.” stated Rev. Dr. Les Mullings, Executive Director of the Rockaway Center for Community Development. “Our kids need a place that is safe and inviting. A place that engages them in learning and creative activities. Our team has put together a great and affordable program.”
The Rockaway Vacation Day Camp summer session will be held from Monday, July 9 to Friday, August 10, 2012. The camp schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This year’s camp is being held at the new state of the art facility – Challenge Preparatory Charter School, 710 Hartman Lane, Far Rockaway, NY 11692. The Rockaway Vacation Day Camp program is offered to children from Kindergarten-5th grades.
This neighborhood camp has many of the amenities usually associated with a much larger program. During this summer session, campers enjoy a wide-variety of activities – arts, crafts, music, movies, team events, reading, writing, math enrichment, health education, student mentoring, sports and two one-day field trips. Special family events are also being planned. A complimentary breakfast, lunch and snack will be served daily.
The cost for this five-week creative program of fun, adventure and learning is only $375. A $150 payment is due at the time of registration and the balance of $225 is due on June 15, 2012. Registration sessions will be conducted at the Rockaway Center for Community Development, 1414 Central Avenue, Far Rockaway, NY 11691 on April 21st, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; May 15th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.; and June 15th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Registration and payments may also be dropped off at Challenge Preparatory Charter School until June 15 during school hours. The camp is being offered on a first come, first served basis. Registration forms are available for downloading.
